Rebates

The Sharon Water Department wants to help residents conserve water and offers generous rebates for qualifying water-efficient toilets and clothes washers.

Make sure to call the Water Dept. at 781-784-1525 x2315, prior to your purchase, to make sure that your toilet and /or clothes washer qualifies for a rebate.

• Rebate equal to half the cost of a new toilet, up to $200, for the replacement of an older toilet with a WaterSense-labeled toilet that uses 1.28 gallons per flush or less.  This does not include installation or inspection costs.
• Limit of two toilet rebates per household
• The toilet must be installed by a licensed plumber and inspected by the Sharon plumbing inspector following installation
• A copy of the receipt, plumbing inspection, and proof of inspection by the Sharon plumbing inspector must accompany the rebate application.  If purchased by credit card, a copy of the credit card statement is also required.
• The toilet must be installed at the property where the water is delivered.
• The property owner is solely responsible for ensuring proper installation and proper disposal of the old toilet. The old toilet must not be reused.

Water efficient washers don’t just save water, they also reduce the energy required for heating water and running the machine, lowering both water and utility bills for the consumer.

Clothes washers that have earned the ENERGY STAR use about 35 percent less water and about 20 percent less energy than a regular washer.

Did you know? The average older model, top-loading clothes washer uses about 40 gallons of water per load, while newer, more water-efficient clothes washers use less than 20 gallons of water per load, without sacrificing cleaning performance.

To achieve even greater water savings, wash only full loads of laundry or use the appropriate load size selection on the clothes washer.
