Clothes Washers

Water efficient washers don’t just save water, they also reduce the energy required for heating water and running the machine, lowering both water and utility bills for the consumer.

Clothes washers that have earned the ENERGY STAR use about 35 percent less water and about 20 percent less energy than a regular washer.

The average older model, top loading clothes washer uses about 40 gallons of water per load, while newer, more water efficient clothes washers use less than 20 gallons of water per load, without sacrificing cleaning performance.

To achieve even greater water savings, wash only full loads of laundry or use the appropriate load size selection on the clothes washer.

The Sharon Water Department supports upgrading to water efficient clothes washers by offering residents a $200 rebate for Energy Star certified clothes washers with a water factor of 4.0 or less.

Call the Water Dept. at 781-784-1525 x2315, prior to your purchase, to make sure that your clothes washer qualifies.
